- Full name: David William Thomas, C.M. Born May 20, 1949, St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada.
- Best known for the sketch series **SCTV** and for co-creating **Bob & Doug McKenzie** ("The Great White North").
- Emmy-winning writer; appointed to the **Order of Canada** (2020); honorary doctorate, McMaster University (2009).
- Came up through Toronto's **Second City** stage company alongside John Candy, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Andrea Martin, Martin Short, Harold Ramis, and Rick Moranis.
