The Second City is an amazing comedy institution, founded in Chicago in 1959. When it opened in Toronto in 1973, I finally saw what I wanted to do more than anything in the world.

I knew everyone in that first Toronto cast — Dan Aykroyd, Gilda Radner, Joe Flaherty and the rest — from the Godspell company. I quit a lucrative advertising job to get on that stage, and it changed everything.
